TCAP STRIVES TO EDUCATE SCHOOLS
LAFAYETTE, Ind. -The Tippecanoe Child Abuse Prevention Council, also known as TCAP, is setting out to educate the Tippecanoe public and children about how to prevent child abuse through different settings. TCAP is a local chapter that branches from the Prevent Child Abuse Indiana initiative that is located in Indianapolis.
The Tippecanoe Child Abuse Prevention Council’s purpose is to educate and advocate the parents and children of Tippecanoe County through a number of different workshops held monthly. Along with education workshops TCAP puts on a couple of events yearly to encourage fun times between parents and children while also raising awareness to this cause.
Recently, TCAP has started a new campaign in order to engage children called, Blue School. The goal of this new campaign is to “engage students, tap into their creativity, encourage their participation and develop leadership skills”. The goal of this campaign is to educate the children of Tippecanoe County and bring workshops to the classrooms. By doing so, children will know how to talk about this issue with their parents if they feel as if they or a friend is in harm’s way. This campaign will help to open communication lines between parents and children on this rarely talked about subject.
If you would like to get involved with the Tippecanoe Child Abuse Prevention Council you can “Like” TCAP on Facebook, sign up for their newsletters on www.tippecanoechildabuse.org, or volunteer your time at upcoming events, especially during the month of April.
If you know of any child that may be a victim of child abuse or neglect, please call the Indian Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline: 1-800-800-5566.
Tippecanoe Child Abuse Prevention Council’s main focus is educating the children and general public of child abuse prevention. We also organize fun events for local children and families to give them opportunities they otherwise would not have access too.
